It’s Monday and I’m Reading…

It’s Monday and I’m reading Monster by Walter Dean Myers.  So far, I’m enjoying the style of the main character writing what is actually happening to him as a movie script.  It’s an interesting approach and entertaining to read.

I’m also going to  be attacking We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.  The New York Times stated this book was “haunting and sophisticated,” so I can’t wait to dive right into it.

I also hope to start reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell.  I’m interested in this because bullying has spiraled out of control in many areas.  Too many young people are choosing suicide over dealing with it.  Something has to be done to stop bullying, while also helping to empower those that are bullied to stand up and not take it.

  1. I kept thinking that I had read Monster somewhere before, perhaps in high school and then I remembered! My high school freshman English teacher had us read the book as a class and I remember really enjoying it. The more I remember about Mr. Hendrickson the more I remember that he had us read books that were for teenagers.
